Rhythm bones work best with well phrased
toe-tapping music at tempos running in and around 120 beats-per-minute.
If people can dance to the tune, then bones usually can too.
Traditional
Bones go great with virtually all genres of traditional music
including old-time string band tunes, Irish jigs, reels, marches,
polkas, waltzes, minstrel melodies, vaudeville, Tin Pan Alley,
Broadway, ragtime, cakewalks, early blues, classic jazz, klezmer,
Cajun, Calypso, African, Gospel, Dixieland, bluegrass, Quebecois,
jug band, all kinds of ancient and contemporary world music,
or just about anything with a spirited beat.
Classical
Lively classical pieces by Bach, Handel, Mozart, Rossini,
Vivaldi and others can be lots of fun with rhythm bones.
Pop
Pop music from the 20's, 30's, 40's, and 50's works too. I
play bones with tunes ranging from the Roaring Twenties, Charleston
era, Beatles, Johnny Cash, Aretha Franklin, even rock, reggae,
and rap. |
Not sure if your music style works with
bones? I'll be happy to take a listen and let you know. Just send
me a sample on CD, or a link to an MP3.
Better yet, you be the judge. Send me your sample CD (or cassette
tape). I'll play bones to it with the recorder on and send you the
results. Just
let me know it's on the way and I'll keep a sharp eye on the
mailbox. |
